Basilica of Our Lady of Health
The Basilica of Our Lady of Health is the most important temple in the city. It was built by Don Vasco de Quiroga, the first Bishop of Michoacán, on a pre-Hispanic ceremonial center.

House of Eleven Patios
The primary artisan center of the city. Artwork from all over Michoacán can be found here. The construction of the House of Eleven Patios dates back to the 18th century and was originally part of the Ex-Convent of Santa Catarina.

Islands of Janitzio
Due to the special atmosphere that its Purepecha natives embody, this is one of the most well-known islands of Lake Pátzcuaro. Take a boat to cross the lake to the island and see the traditional fishermen with their giant butterfly nets cast out into the waters just like they've been doing for centuries. 

Tzintzuntzan
Just 25 minutes from Patzcuaro is Tzintzuntzan. In pre-Hispanic times this town the most important city of the Purépecha empire. In its archaeological zone you can see the peculiar round pyramidal constructions, known as "Yácatas", which are very distinctive of this site.
